  Girls Trip Movie Recap We start the movie by meeting a group of women known as the Flossy Posse. We start off with Sasha (Queen Latifah), a journalist and blogger. Then there is Dina (Tiffany Haddish breakout), she viewed as the ghetto black girl trope but she’s a free spirit woman who plays by her own rules. Lisa (Jada Pinkett Smith), is viewed as the responsible one a mother and nurse and divorcee. Finally, there’s Ryan Pierce (Regina Hall) an author and mogul who sells marriage and love with her husband, played by Luke Cage. But over the years, the women drifts apart as most friends do. One day, her agent informs Ryan that the Essence Festival wants her to be a keynote speaker for their event (all expenses paid), which she accepts as she believes it will get the Flossy Posse back together.   March 24, 2002 Halle Berry won Best Actress and with this she became the first and so far the only (and as of 2025) African American woman to win this award. The movie she won for was 2001’s Monsters Ball. To this day, people ask was this win a cop out win because a black woman has never won this award? The only way to find out is if we recap the movie she won for. Monsters Ball Movie Recap In the beginning we meet Hank Grotowski (Billy Bob Thornton). Hank works as a CO, as did his father (whom is retired as a CO). Hank recently lost his wife, hence why he is living with his father and brother. They recorded a song called Girl You Know It’s True and it went #1 worldwide. It got the attention from Clive Davis who signed them to Arista Records so they can record a proper album. After this they had #1 hits like “Don’t Forget My Number”, “Blame It on the Rain” & “Girl I’m Gonna Miss You”. They looked like a qualifying artist to win the award. Who Did they Beat?
