Set It Off Movie Recap (1996)

  Francesca Sutton (aka Frankie) (Vivica A Fox) has been one of the bank’s best workers. That was until a guy named Darnell (William Calhoun or WC) decided it would be a good idea to rob the bank. After Frankie refuses to comply, he proceeds to blow the brains of one of the customers, just imagine you going to the bank to make a deposit next thing you know you take a bullet to the brain scary to think about. After the robbery, a visibly shaken Frankie is interrogated by Detective Stroude and Waller (John C McGinley & Ella Joyce). Then the owner of the bank tells Frankie that she failed to comply with the procedure, which was silent alarm on the left, money on the right. Since Frankie recognized Darnell, they fire her. The Detective believes she was involved with the robbery. Was she, stay tuned to find out. Every year when I make predictions on the Grammys, I say this “As long as the Grammys get it wrong, they’ll still exist as an organization. Today we going to look at several times, the Grammys has gotten it wrong and caused a stir. But we are only going to focus on the last 15 years because if I go through every year, it’ll be too long and attention spans will be out exhausted. But let’s explain the tier list, We have the uncalled for (Grammys deserved to get Will Smith slapped for their actions), Pretty Bad, There’s a Case (I can see it from both side), Seen Worse, Get Over Yourself.   Story of Mary J Blige: The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul      Mary Jane Blige was born on January 11, 1971. But things did not get off to a good start for Mary. Her mother was a nurse and father a Vietnam war veteran with PTSD. He would abuse her mother and even after she would leave him, he would come back and abuse her some more. To escape her father, Mary and her mother would move to Yonkers, NY in the Schlobohm Houses where she’ll experience more trauma. She was SA by a family friend, she saw women running for their man from abuse, it was a rough neighborhood. But it wasn’t all bad, she found her joy in the church as it offered a safe place to express her love and desire for the Lord and music. According to Mary, it was the place she could go without getting hurt. But as she grew into a teenager, she caved into her Yonkers environment. Years of sexual harassment broke her.
