Mariah Carey: Here For It All Album Review (2025)
Welcome back everyone, today we are going to continue going through Mariah’s entire catalog with album #15 Here For It All. Just when I thought I was done with Mariah’s catalog I get surprised with another album. Mariah has been getting honored left and right in 2025, and for once it had nothing to do with her holiday glitch. IHeartRadio, BET Awards, VMAs at last honored her with some form of an icon award. Back to this album, when I was first heard of Mariah doing another album, it surprised me that it wasn’t another holiday album, given that holiday music has been her money maker. But as I been saying about Mariah albums since the Chanteuse project, this is late period Mariah. It’s where Mariah don’t care about critics (like she ever did) or charts or sales. This album was for her and her lambs. Hope it’s worth to be here for it all.
Mariah Carey “Here For It All”
1. Mi: Opening track and Mariah is talking about the luxurious life. She doesn’t any care outside forces, unless it involves her. And so what, Mariah emphasizing her self-love/care that’s fine but it’s the pre-chorus that soured me on this song. She said it’s not about you, and I can’t walk a mile in her shoes. She’s right I cannot be Mariah for a day, but it’s like you making this about yourself, why should your listeners tune in. Feel like this was only made for Mariah. Yeah, not a great way to open up an album. (DECENT)
2. Play
This Song (ft. Anderson.paak): For someone who adores Silk Sonics 2021 album, I
knew this is something I would like. And of course I do, on production alone
but Anderson.paak & Mariah have impeccable chemistry together. I will say
it’s not perfect, I wasn’t too crazy about the outro fading out as it tease the
listener for more. Overall, this is a stellar song, and I’ll probably wind up
playing it again. (AMAZING)
3. Type
Dangerous: The leadoff single for this album, I remember not being as crazy
about this on first listen months ago and I’m still not. Don’t get me wrong the
song isn’t bad, as it uses an Eric B and Rakim and I like the Tommy Mottola
reference in the beginning of the second verse. Something just feels, there.
It’s one of those songs that doesn’t offend nor excite. Overall, the song is
good but doesn’t go beyond that, at least for me. (GOOD)
4. Sugar
Sweet (ft. Kehlani & Shenseea): Mariah decides to team up with Kehlani and
Shenseea and it’s a song that give off a tropical dance vibe. It’s a simple
love song where the vibes are well sweet. Kehlani uses food reference, normally
those references don’t work, this is the one time it does. Kehlani is sweet
like candy and got the Tajin and the lime with the cream on the side. But it is
Shenseea that steal’s the show. Her cadence fits a song like this. Not much
else to the content, it’s a song that had a chance for SOTS title if it was
properly. This song is excellent (AMAZING)
5. In
Your Feelings: A title like that and obviously I am reminded of that Drake song
back in 2018, but that has nothing to do with the song itself. This gives us a
taste of old school Mariah, and with Anderson.paak production it’s the Mariah
is feeling distant from her lover and it’s coming off more estranged. But I
would say the opening of the chorus “I think you might be getting a little bit
tooooooooo” feels crammed. The production is fine but I feel this one suffers
from questionable choices. That what hold it back from excellent. (DECENT)
6. Nothing
Is Impossible: Is the inspiration song for the album and I am reminded of
Butterfly, the ballad. I feel like Mariah has like 20 of these types of songs
but Mariah has to remind herself and listeners that even when you down you have
to get back up. Mariah has done this time and time and I don’t have an issue
with this (GOOD)
7. Confetti
and Champagne (least favorite): My least favorite on the album and this one
sound like it could’ve come out of Ariana Grande camp circa 2018. It’s a
celebration that she moved on from this ex and is celebrating by herself. This
might be the worst produced song on this project, in fact this is the shortest
song on here with 2 & ½ minutes. If there’s one where you can skip, it
would be this one. Not quite celebrating. (DECENT)
8. I
Won’t Allow It: Yes, the Anderson.paak production is back and it taking
advantage of the disco songs with very funky bassline. This is a kiss-off
continuing her celebration of leaving her ex. But this ex, is proven to be
toxic trying to use Mariah for clout and his own gains and she’s not down for
any of that. This is fun Mariah and fun Mariah is always a joy. Easily one of
the highlights of this album. Go back and listen to it. (AMAZING)
9. My
Love: This is a cover of the Paul McCartney & the Wings ballad in 1973.
This means I am forbidden to talk about the content but rather does it justify
or overtake the original. I’m here to say it doesn’t overtake the original but
she does fine. I think the only reason might be that the song sounds like it
could’ve come from a movie soundtrack. Mariah does give this some justice and
it’s listenable. (GOOD)
10. Jesus
I Do (ft. Clark Sisters): Normally, Mariah gospel cuts are slow burns,
mid-tempo but this one different. One she gets contributions from the Clark
Sisters and two it’s shorter compared to her other “holy” songs. There is one
BIG problem and that is that Clark Sisters kind-of washes Mariah. In fact, by
the time the song ended, I forgot Mariah had a verse in this song. In all, the
song it’s fine it’s always good when Mariah taps into her faith, I just wished
we got more of her here. That’s all. (GOOD)
11. Here
for It All: Final song on the album, and it’s a choice putting the album title
as the closing track. This song is divided into two parts. Part 1 starts off
with the ballad that plays into “Holy” Mariah and you know what this is a song
where finding it’s true meaning doesn’t really matter. Part 1 is just Mariah
showcasing Mariah. Part 2 goes adult R&B mode where the instrumentation
carries the song to the album’s end. One thing about me, I take album closer
seriously because they basically sums up the album and it must pay off the
entire project. This one does, goes a little long but I felt like it needed to
be this way. We might not get another Mariah album with her slowly worn vocal
chords if this was the not to go out on I can say it pay it off and I’ll save
my final pun for the end (AMAZING)
Final Thoughts: As
I said in the final track Mariah vocals are worn but I’ll give her credit, she
managed to adjust to her limitations and prove that she’s still that diva.
Despite these limitations, this is a great collective of songs and it proves
that 2025 is still Mariah’s year. Good album I’m giving this an 8/10 ranking,
Mariah best late period album to date, and I’m here for it.
Best Songs: Play This Song (ft.
Anderson.paak), Sugar Sweet (ft. Kehlani & Shenseea), I Won’t Allow It,
Here For It All
Worst Songs: Mi, Confetti &
Champagne
